Word Count: 5,788

Warnings: Major Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom SPOILERS, so if you haven’t seen the movie then don’t read this! Also, Claire is depicted as not a nice person in this fic.

It’s a normal day with Owen. Building the cabin, humming along to a song, taking the occasional snack break. You reminisce with past memories of your times on Isla Nublar, how you and Owen met, how you got together, how the Indominus almost killed both of you but didn’t. Everything’s perfect.

Until Claire shows up.

“Hey, Owen…” Claire says, walking up to the cabin where you and Owen are working away. Owen continues humming along to the song, trying to tune out Claire. She can only mean trouble, and he knows it.

“She’ll keep pestering us…” Your murmur, but Owen decides to ignore you, too.

“Owen,” Claire calls again, this time louder.

“Of course she only calls for you.” You heave a loud sigh, turning around on your ladder. Owen follows your lead, turning around.

“Oh boy…” Owen mutters, looking down at Claire.

“Hi,” Claire mutters, become suddenly shy under both of your stares.

“You’re back.” You state, narrowing your eyes. You never did like her, since she dated Owen. You felt territorial of him whenever she was around, even though Owen always said there was no reason to be. You and Owen are madly in love, so you know you don’t need to be very jealous around her, but you are anyway. You can tell she still likes him, so you’re just being cautious.

“Can I buy you two a beer?” Claire asks.

“Did you bring ‘em? Or do we gotta like…go somewhere?” Owen asks, clearly unamused by the situation.

Within minutes, the three of you are in a nearby bar. You and Owen on one side, Claire sitting opposite of you.

“I know why we’re here. Lockwood’s little flunkie called us. Something about a rescue op? Save the dinosaurs from an island that’s about to explode. What could go wrong?” Owen scoffs, drinking a sip of his beer.

“I’m going,” Claire says, clasping her hands together.

“Don’t.” You answer.

“I don’t have a choice.” Claire shoots you a glare.

“Of course you do!” Owen sighs.

“What, I should just build my own cabin, play pool and drink beer all day while these dinosaurs go extinct?” Claire grows frustrated. You sit back, taking a sip of beer.

“Yeah, we like pool.” You shrug, looking around at the small bar.

“Blue is alive. So is Ares.” Claire drops the bomb, looking between the two of you. Ares was your T-Rex that you raised from birth, and the fact that he was still alive rocked you to your core.

“Jesus, Claire.” Owen sighs, rubbing a hand over his face. You glare at her harshly.

“You raised them, guys! You spent years of your life training with them. You’re just going to let them die?” Claire asks, scrunching her face in worry.

“Well, yeah,” Owen answers a little hesitantly. You keep quiet, not voicing your opinion on the matter.

“C’mon…you’re better people than you think you are.” She purses her lips.

“You should write fortune cookies.” You mutter, trying to keep the conversation light.

“Forget it. There’s a charter flight tomorrow morning. You two are on the manifest. I just wanted to let you know.” Claire gets up and leaves. Owen watches her go, and you turn to him.

“Well, that was one heck of a conversation.” You down the rest of your beer, slamming it back down on the table.

“We’re going,” Owen mumbles, running a hand through his hair.

“I know we are. It’s Blue and Ares we’re talking about. We always go back to them in the end.” You give him a small smile, grabbing his hand under the table and rubbing it soothingly.

“Always.” He nods, giving you a small smile in return.

Blue jumps on top of the Jurassic Park car and roars in you and Owen’s faces, causing you to flinch. Owen pushes you behind him protectively and Blue steps down from the car, a confused look on her face.

“Easy! Hey!” He puts his hand out toward her, and you follow his move, putting your hand out. Blue ignores Owen, though, and brushes past him to nuzzle your hand. You’re surprised, but pet Blue anyway.

“Why is she…doing this?” You ask him, looking to Owen for answers. He just shrugs and pats Blue on the neck lovingly.

“I think…she recognizes you from back in the day. How…oh. Oh.” Owen chuckles, looking over at you.

“What is it?” You ask.

“She knows you’re her alpha female. She recognizes you as my mate.” He laughs, patting her neck.

“Nice! I guess she doesn’t want to eat us after all.” You grin at him and Blue nuzzles into you more. You laugh and scratch under her chin.

Then, Blue has been shot with a tranquilizer dart and chaos ensues. Within mere seconds, Blue has tripped both you and Owen with her tail. Milliseconds later, Owen is helping you up and pulling you out of the way as Blue charges toward the spot you had previously been in. You turn to see her jump on a guy who was holding a tranquilizer gun. He shoots her, even though everyone’s protesting.

Owen says something that you don’t hear, probably from the shock, and charges at Ken. He gets shot in the chest with a tranq dart and you gasp. As he falls, you run to catch him. You set him down gently and take out the dart before standing back up and glaring at Ken.

“You! How dare you shoot my boyfriend with a tranquilizer dart! Do you know how much that can hurt a person!?” You scream at him, but ultimately end up getting shot with a dart yourself.

You see Zia, another woman on the island, get to you and take out the dart, but before long your eyes droop shut and everything around you in the world fades away.

What seems like only a few seconds later, you feel yourself being dragged. You open your eyes slowly to see Owen carrying you bridal style away from some fast-moving lava. This jolts you awake pretty quickly.

“Set me down!” You yell, and Owen obliges quickly. The two of you start running, and after a while, you see Claire and Franklin standing out in the open.

“Run!” Owen yells.

“Run!” You agree, waving your hands frantically. Suddenly understanding the importance of the situation, they start to run down the hill as well. The two of you catch up and suddenly all four of you are running down the hill as fast as you can.

You hide behind one of the Gyrospheres and watch as the dinosaurs run around you, jumping off the cliffside.

“(Y/n), get in the Gyrosphere with them!” Owen demands.

“No! I’m not leaving you!” You argue, grabbing his hand. He sighs but squeezes your hand, nodding, and shutting Claire and Franklin in the Gyrosphere. They protest, but it doesn’t last long since they’re soon rolling down the hill. You and Owen run behind them, holding hands the entire way. As you jump off the cliff, Owen pulls you close to his chest and the two of you splash into the water together.

“Oh my god you guys are alive!” Zia practically yells as the four of you climb into the small truck that holds Blue. Owen holds a finger to his lips in order to silence her. It works.

“Look what they’ve done to her…” Owen murmurs, placing his hands on Blue’s neck.

“Who are these guys?” Zia asks, placing her stethoscope to Blue’s heart again.

“Animal traffickers. Look how they treated them. They’re not taking them to a safe haven, they’re going to sell them.” You answer, casting your gaze to Blue pitifully.

“Not Blue. They need her for something else.” Zia shakes her head.

“Like what?” Claire asks.

“I don’t know. But…but she’s averaging and I don’t have the tools I need to keep her alive.” Zia frowns and looks down at Blue as she squirms around.

“Hey, shh…you’re alright, you’re alright,” Owen mutters comfortingly to Blue. She stops squirming.

“(Y/n), put your hand here. Steady pressure.” Zia instructs, and you do as told.

“Yes, ma’am.” You put steady pressure on Blue’s wound and she instinctively roars in discomfort. Owen soothes her.

“I can’t take the bullet out without a transfusion from another animal. Which one of you knows how to find a vein?” Zia asks.

“I did a blood drive at Red Cross.” Claire offers.

“Great. Franklin, take over for (y/n).” Zia busies herself with other stuff as she instructs Franklin.

“Oh, no no no no no!” Franklin refuses.

“Franklin! Now!” Zia demands. Franklin walks over to your side and takes over for you, but blood squirts into his mouth.

“Oh my god, oh my god! Is it in my mouth? Did it get in my mouth,” Franklin looks over to you and Owen, and you both shake your heads, “you sure?”

“You’re good.” Owen grimaces and you clear your throat to keep from laughing. Franklin just frowns and keeps his hand over the wound.

“All of the animals should be stable. Look for carnivores with two or three fingers, no more than three…I think there’s one on board…” Zia tells you, Owen, and Claire, running a hand over her face.

“I think I know where this is going. I know why you need me.” You cross your arms.

“Yeah…we need a blood transfusion from the T-Rex.” Zia sighs.

“Ares.” You correct her.

“You’ve got to be kidding me.” Claire groans. Zia shakes her head.

“I keep Ares busy, Owen finds the vein, and Claire gets the blood. Right.” You nod, jumping out of the back of the truck. Owen jumps out behind you and spins you around to meet his eyes.

“Are you sure you’re okay with this? We don’t know how he’ll react to you since you’re the one who helped capture him.” He frowns.

“I’ll be fine, Owen. I promise you. He wouldn’t do anything to hurt me.” You press a chaste kiss to his lips.

“Let’s go, lovebirds.” Claire rolls her eyes and steps out in front of the two of you, making her way to the truck that holds Ares.

Once you’re there, all three of you get inside and realize he’s asleep.

“Hopefully he stays asleep. Owen, can you find the vein?” Claire asks. Owen nods and kneels down next to Ares’ neck, finding the right vein.

“Okay, c’mon.” Owen waves his hand for her to come near when Ares moves his head to the right and pins Owen between him and the wall.

Claire gasps, but you just giggle. You knew Ares wouldn’t hurt you guys…well, maybe Claire.

“Are you okay?” You ask Owen, smiling lightly.

“I’m okay!” He gives you two a thumbs up and you nod.

“How are you laughing at this? He could have gotten hurt!” Claire hits you in the arm and you turn on her, grabbing her wrist as she retracts it.

“Never touch me ever again or I will make you regret it. We are standing in my territory right now, after all.” You whisper as low as you can to her. She gulps and nods, taking her wrist back from you.

“C’mon.” Owen grunts, waving his hand for Claire to get over there again. She slowly back away from you, going on the other side of Ares.

“You’re going to have to do it.” She tries to give him the bag, but Owen shakes his head.

“I can’t. The skin is too thick. I have to use both of my hands just to put pressure on the vein. You have to do it.” Owen grimaces, keeping pressure on the vein.

“You have to jump on Ares’ back, Claire. And don’t worry, if he wakes up, I’m right here. He won’t act out if he sees me here.” You walk over to the side Claire is on and sit down right in front of Ares’ eye so you’ll be the first thing he sees if he wakes up.

“Oh my god he stinks.” Owen gags as Claire jumps on Ares’ back. He stirs a bit but never wakes up.

“He is a dinosaur, Owen.” You joke.

“Well, duh.” Owen snorts. You see Claire try to lightly press the needle in and you sigh.

“You’ll have to jam it in there. He has really thick skin. I should know, I gave him shots when we were all on the island.” You remind her. She nods and jams the needle into the vein and Ares lets out a quiet roar of discomfort. A steady flow of blood starts to navigate into the bag.

Suddenly, you hear voices from outside the truck.

“This is open. I got it.” A voice says before you see the door of the truck get closed and locked. And at the loud noise of the lock on the door, you see Ares’ eyes slowly start to open. He apparently sees Owen first because he starts to roar.

“Hey, hey, Ares! It’s me, boy! Calm down, calm down. It’s okay.” You murmur, placing a gentle hand on top of his head. His eye darts to stare at you, his breathing suddenly slowing. He lowers his head to rest as much of it on your lap as he can. You whisper gentle things to him as you slowly stroke the top of his head.

“How can you do that? He’s a T-Rex, for crying out loud! An untamable beast!” Claire whispers, hopping off his back once she’s got the blood.

“I’ve been with him since he hatched. I’d say that if I couldn’t do this by now, I’d be worried. Plus, I just saved your life. You could at least be grateful instead of calling my dinosaur an untamable beast.” You hiss at her, kissing Ares’ snout. He lets out a low whine as you stand up, letting his head fall out of your lap.

“Whatever.” Claire climbs out of the cage through the top. You turn to Ares.

“I’ll be back for you, Ares. I promise you.” You whisper before turning back to Owen and hugging him tightly.

“We’ll get him back, I promise. We won’t let them sell him.” He murmurs to you before the two of you climb out of the cage and head back to where Blue is.

Nothing is said as Zia works, and you see Blue’s chest slowly rise and fall with every breath she takes. Owen stares at Blue, and you can see the pain and sadness written all over his face. He doesn’t want her to die, and neither do you.

“She’ll be okay.” You hug Owen, burying your face into his chest. You feel him sigh silently and rest his head on top of yours, kissing the crown of your head in the process. He slowly relaxes in your embrace.

“Okay, I’m gonna make an incision in her leg to remove the bullet.” Zia cuts a line in Blue’s leg and she roars in pain. Owen’s breathing increases, and you start to draw patterns on his back to help soothe him.

You hear a small clink of metal and a sigh of relief from Zia.

“She’s gonna be okay,” Zia mutters those four words and with that, both you and Owen relax almost completely. Owen wraps his arms around you and lifts you up, kissing you passionately as you celebrate your small victory. You don’t notice Claire eyeing the two of you with a look of disgust.

~+~

“Hey! Get your dirty hands off of me!” You scream at the man who throws you into a cell with Claire and Owen.

“Get off her!” Owen rushes up to you and punches the man who threw you in here. You cheer when the man falls to the ground and scrambles to get out of there.

“Psychopaths.” Claire shakes her head.

“It’s called love, honey. You’ll understand one day.” You smile sweetly at her, turning to Owen and hugging him. He tilts your head up to kiss you sweetly.

“Hi, Claire,” You hear a voice from behind the cell bars. You and Owen break apart to look at Eli Mills, “I just wanted to come and apologize. I didn’t want to bring you into any of this, but it was the only way that we could get the raptor.” He finishes. Claire runs up to him and tries to grab him, but he backs away too soon. You grab Owen’s hand and grip it tightly.

“So what? This is it? I mean, you’re a smart guy! You could’ve started a foundation, cured cancer….but instead you…what? Sell endangered species?” Owen scoffs.

“I saved these animals!” Eli argues.

“You betrayed a dying man for money,” Claire growls.

“Claire, I admire your idealism, but we both exploited these animals. At least I have the integrity to admit it.” Eli walks over to stand in front of her.

“No! I never ever did anything-” Claire starts to argue with him but before she can finish, Eli has cut her off.

“You authorized the creation of the Indominus Rex. You exploited a living thing, in a cage, for money. How is that different, huh?” Eli reminds her. You and Owen walk forward to the bars together, glaring at Eli.

“I’m not you.” She mutters, but you can tell she’s shocked at the similarities.

“And you two,” Eli walks over to you and Owen, “the man and woman that proved dinosaurs can follow orders. You never thought about the applications of your research? How many millions a trained predator might be worth? You two, Owen and (Y/n), are the parents of the new world.” Eli lets out a small huff of pride at making you speechless. But before he can get too prideful, Owen has grabbed his arm and pulled it through the bars in a vulnerable enough way to where he could break it at a moments notice.

“Let him go.” Ken aims a gun at Owen’s head.

“Owen!” You grab his shoulder, warning him.

“I think I’ll break it,” Owen smirks, bending Eli’s arm a little more to prove his point.

“Let him go.” Ken reiterates, moving closer with his gun. Owen lets him go and you breathe a sigh of relief, getting close to the bars as if you’re about to apologize for his actions.

But before you say anything, you grab the front of his shirt and pull him toward you, slamming his face on the iron bars that separate the two of you. He lets out a cry of anguish as he makes contact with the bars.

Owen chuckles and gives you a discreet high five behind your back as you back away from the bars.

“As far as everyone else is concerned, you three burned up on the island.” Eli looks down at his broken glasses, then back up to you. He and Ken walk away.

A few minutes later, you and Owen are sitting with your backs against the wall. Owen’s arm is around your shoulders and your head is resting against his chest.

“Do you two remember the first time you saw a dinosaur? The first time you see them it’s like…a miracle. You read about them in books, you see the bones in museums, but you don’t really believe it. They’re like myths. And then you see the first one alive…” Claire trails off, looking at the mother and baby Triceratops duo across from your cell.

“This isn’t your fault.” You mutter to her. She looks over at you, surprised to hear that from you of all people.

“But it is.” She argues.

“No…this one’s on me. I showed them the way.” Owen disagrees.

“Don’t do that, Owen. You can’t place the blame on yourself like that. You trained a Raptor but…look, I’m the first one to ever train a T-Rex. A T-Rex for crying out loud. Possibly the most dangerous dinosaur. I should have thought about how that could be used against people instead of for them. And now…now I, along with everyone else, have to deal with the consequences that I’ve brought upon the world. Not anyone else. I did this. And I’m…so sorry.” You tear up, knowing that you’re probably going to die soon. The situation wasn’t looking good.

“Don’t say that, (Y/n). You didn’t do this. I love you, okay? If you did this, then so did I. We stick together. We’re a team. If the blame is on you, it’s on me, too.” Owen rubs your arm.

“Gosh, don’t give me that sappiness right now. I can barely deal with it when we’re not about to die.” Claire growls.

“Listen, Claire, I know you’re just jealous of me because I have Owen and you don’t, but will you shut up? If these are my dying moments, I want to be in my loving boyfriend’s arms knowing that we love each other. I would rather not have your whiney voice trying to break us apart at the very last seconds. Thank you.” You growl at her. Owen chuckles and presses a kiss to your forehead.

“You’re cute when you’re jealous, you know.” He smirks and kisses your lips this time. You kiss back until he pulls away.

“I know. But only because you know I’m right.” You smile at him and peck him one more time on the lips. Owen gets up, much to your protest, and walks over to the bars.

“I don’t even like Owen like that!” Claire protests.

“Oh, yes you do. Don’t think I don’t see the lingering looks you give him. You forget I have a girlfriend’s intuition.” You glare over at her.

“(Y/n), please calm down. You know I love you. And Claire quit it. You two will have plenty of time to argue later.” Owen grumbles as he stares out of the bars.

“If there even is a later.” Claire mumbles.

“Oh yes there is. We have a cabin to finish.” Owen winks at you and you smile.

There’s a sudden noise in the cell next to you and all three of you turn to look at the wall separating the two cells.

“What is that?” Claire asks. Instead of answering, though, Owen just runs up to the wall and jumps up to look through the bars that show the cell over.

“Well, look who just woke up.” He whistles and you see the wall below him budge. You frown.

“Owen, I hope you know what you’re doing.” You sigh. He drops down and smiles at you.

“Me too.” He winks at you with his infamous smirk before turning back to the wall and whistling again. The dinosaur runs into the wall and you see it start to give way.

“What are you doing?” Claire asks, obviously more than confused.

“Getting us out of here.” Owen whistles again. He whistles a few more times and finally the Stygimoloch busts through the wall between the cells. You smirk and move over to the door, gaining the dinosaur’s attention.

“(Y/n)?” Claire asks, eyeing you suspiciously.

“Be careful…If it hurts you, I don’t know what I’ll do.” Owen mutters, and you chuckle.

“Me? Careful? I’ve never heard two completely different words used together in a sentence before.” You smirk and look back to the Stygimoloch, getting ready. You whistle again and it runs toward you, but you jump to the side at the last second. It breaks through the cell door and runs away.

“You’re a genius and that’s why I love you.” Owen hugs you from behind and kisses the back of your head.

“That’s it? The only reason? Because I’m a genius?” You tease, turning around and pecking him on the lips.

“One of many.” He laughs and kisses you deeper this time.

“Seriously guys? Again? We just escaped, let’s go.” Claire groans.

“I just saved you, again, and you’re complaining? Is that all you ever do? Maybe I should’ve let you rot in this cell instead. Gosh.” You roll your eyes at Claire. Owen does his best not to laugh as he grabs your hand and the three of you turn around to see a small girl staring at you.

“Oh no.” Owen murmurs as the girl starts to run down the hallway. You run after her. Thus marks the time you met Maisie, the most wonderful little girl you’ll ever get to know.

~+~

You, Owen, Maisie, and Claire are in the habitats of the fake dinosaurs in the main exhibit hall of the house. Owen has just shut down all the power and you’ve gotten through one of the exhibit rooms, trying to get through the next one.

You’re about halfway through the second exhibit when all of the lights suddenly turn back on. You turn to Owen, confused and afraid.

Lightning flashes and Maisie screams, causing you to instinctively pull her to you as the Indoraptor breaks through the glass of the exhibit. The log lands on your legs and you grunt in pain. Nothing too severe, just mild discomfort and a giant log on your legs.

Claire waves for Maisie to leave the exhibit since she can, and she does so while screaming the entire way, attracting the Indoraptor to her. It runs away from the three of you and chases after her instead.

Owen gets out from under his part of the log and goes to help you up. You and Claire get out from under the log, but you see that she has a nasty hole in her leg from the Indoraptor’s claw. Owen being the nice person he is decides to help her out.

“Put pressure on it. Don’t look at it! Look at me, look at me.” Owen instructs, placing a piece of cloth over her wound.

“You have to go find her.” Claire breathes heavily, putting a hand on Owen’s shoulder. You narrow your eyes at her, not liking her close proximity to your boyfriend.

“We can’t just leave you here.” Owen protests, and right after he gets those words out, she grabs his collar and pulls him to her, kissing him deeply. Before you can intervene, though, Owen has pushed her off of him.

“Who do you think you are!?” You scream at her, kicking her in the chest and pressing your boot down as she lays on the ground.

“It was worth a try.” She shrugs as much as she can under your pressure.

“If you even look at my boyfriend ever again, I will not hesitate to leave you for Raptor or T-Rex meat. Got it? He’s mine, and we’ve both made that explicitly clear. Gain some common sense, will ya?” You grunt, storming off in the direction Maisie went. Owen follows you and wraps an arm around your shoulders, pressing a kiss on your temple.

“You know I didn’t kiss back, right? I pushed her away.” He mumbles against your temple.

“I know, honey, I know. I’m not mad at you. You didn’t do anything wrong. Her, on the other hand…” You trail off with a growl.

“I know, I know. You can kick her butt when we get back, but right now we need to find and save Maisie.” He agrees. You nod and let out a breath of frustration.

“Let’s go find ourselves a girl.” You surge forward, determination evident in your eyes.

~+~

“Press the button, Claire.” You tell her and she purses her lips. The Indoraptor is on the roof with you, Owen, Maisie, and Claire. You’re in front of Owen and Maisie, and the Indoraptor is between you and Claire. She has the laser pointed at your stomach and is about to press the acoustic button to save you all.

“Don’t have to tell me twice.” Claire presses the button and the Indoraptor lunges at you, landing just a few feet in front of you and crashing through the glass roof. You let out a sigh of relief you didn’t know you were holding.

Until the Indoraptor pulls itself up. Then, your whole body tenses up. You can feel Owen’s do the same as he pulls your back to his chest and wraps his arm protectively around your waist. You let out a shuddery breath as the Indoraptor turns to face you again.

Then, out of nowhere, Blue tackles the Indoraptor and they both go tumbling through the glass ceiling. You watch as the two of them gracefully flip through the air until Blue has landed on top of the Indoraptor who has been impaled on the Triceratops head. You inhale sharply and pump your fists in the air.

“We’re alive! We made it!” You yell, turning around and kissing Owen as passionately as you can. You thought you were going to die, so you might as well make the most of not dying. Plus, Claire had just tried (and failed) to steal your boyfriend, so you might as well rub it in her face that he loves only you.

“Hey!” Claire suddenly yells, and you’re about to yell back at her to finally let you and Owen just have a victory kiss in peace when you realize she’s yelling at someone below you. You look down to see Zia and Franklin in the room below.

“Hey! You good?” Franklin grins, glad to see the Indoraptor dead.

“Yeah. You?” Owen shrugs.

“Nope!” Franklin nods his head enthusiastically and you giggle.

“Hey, we’ve got a problem downstairs. I need you to come see this.” Zia frowns. Just when you thought you were done…

~+~

A few minutes later, you’re down in the labs below the main exhibit room, in a glass room overlooking the entire basement filled with dinosaurs in their cells.
You see a milky fog start to fill the room below, making you almost choke on tears. Ares is in there.

“They’re all dying.” Claire breathes as she takes in the sight before her.

“The blast damaged the ventilation system. We did everything we could.” Zia frowns sorrowfully.

“I can open the gates from here.” One by one, Claire opens each and every one of the dinosaurs cages. You see Ares roam the hall below and you can’t help but sob as you see him roar in displeasure.

You see the red button in the center and open the plastic cover around it, hovering your hand over it.

“I can open the outer doors. I can set them free.” You murmur, staring at Ares below.

“(Y/n)…if you press that button, there’s no going back. You could be the cost of millions of lives out in that world out there. We’re not on an island anymore.” Owen reminds you, and you turn to look at him, tears streaming down your face.

“You don’t understand, Owen. Blue is alive and free so you don’t have to worry about her. Ares is…he’s down there, suffering. I can’t just let him die like that. He means too much to me. I can’t…he…he was my entire life before this.” You struggle for breath, hands shaking uncontrollably. Owen pulls you into a deep embrace and you sob into his chest.

You hear the outer doors open, though, and you’re confused. You turn to see Maisie’s hand on the button, her still looking at the dinosaurs below.

“I had to. They’re alive, like me.” She turns to face you and Owen slowly, a single tear cascading down her cheek as if she were in a movie.

All of you turn to see the dinosaurs run out of the door, and you see Ares be set free. You weren’t upset about the doors opening since it’s what you wanted to do. You’re glad the blame wasn’t on you, although you’re not sure it’s much better that it’s on a child instead. Your Ares is free, though, and that’s all that matters to you right now.

~+~

You, Owen, Maisie, Claire, Franklin, and Zia are all on the steps to the Manor, now. You see Blue step in front of you, staring at you and Owen.

“Hey, girl.” Owen smiles at her and steps forward to press a hand to her snout.

“Come with us, Blue.” You murmur, stepping forward to rub a hand on her neck. She lets out an affectionate snort.

“We’ll take you to a safe place, okay?” Owen asks, looking over to a nearby cage. Blue pulls away slightly and looks over at the cage before looking back at the two of you. She runs off in the opposite direction and you sigh. It was a long shot anyway.

“We’re going to go inside to give you two some…alone time.” Zia clears her throat, ushering Claire, Maisie, and Franklin inside the Manor again. You let out a sigh of relief once they’re gone and turn to Owen.

“(Y/n), there’s something I need to ask you,” Owen mutters, and you turn to look at him.

“Yeah?” You ask.

“I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and I’ve got everything I need for it I just haven’t had the guts to do anything about it yet. Listen, what I’m trying to say is…we’ve been together for three years, but we’ve been friends for longer than that. Much longer. We’ve almost died together twice now, and after the first time, I asked you to be my girlfriend. Now, after the second…I want to ask you…(Y/n) (Y/l/n), will you marry me?” Owen bends down on one knee and pulls out a ring from his breast pocket, holding it out to you.

“Oh my…yes, Owen, yes! A thousand times yes!” You nod excitedly, giving him your left hand and watching as he slides the engagement ring on. When he stands up you quickly kiss him with as much passion as you can muster up after the events that have just happened.

“I’m glad. That would’ve been awkward if you said no.” Owen laughs and kisses you deeply again.

“I’ve been your girlfriend for three years now, and I’ve put up with you for that long. Why on earth would I say no now?” You giggle, wrapping your arms around his neck.

“Got sick of me? I don’t know, honestly.” He chuckles and buries his head in the crook of your neck.

“Wait, were you just carrying the ring around this whole time? Seriously?” You pull away from the embrace and laugh as he rubs the back of his neck nervously.

“Maybe…I mean, I was saving it for a time before this, but…I just couldn’t wait any longer, ya know?” Owen rubs your upper arms lovingly.

“I know.” You smile and kiss him again.

Maybe you’d almost died twice with him, but since it meant taking your relationship to the next level with Owen after each time, you’d have to say it was definitely worth it.
